It's been a Week
Since my Progress Report. Whether it went well or not does not matter now. I will never see the marks anyway. What's more important would be to consider the questions and suggestions given by other professors during the report. On a side note, I hope one of them regretted on his earlier decision. Nonetheless, I don't really care. It's over anyway.

One week after Progress Report, one week before the Chinese New Year! And I have not been back in KL ever since 27 September 2007. Up till 3 days ago it's been a record 4 months. Although this is not really a record, (the record holder remains at being in Europe for 5.5 months) this one really is a record if you consider me staying only in Singapore. It may not sound like a big deal for those who stays further, but to someone whose home is just a mere 350km away, and highly conveniently accessible by land transportation, this simply isn't an excuse.

Nevertheless, time to go back to reaction. See if the feed ratio has really reached a plateau.

It is becoming so Overwhelming
that I feel a little difficult breathing.

Literally. I don't know. Am I having too much expectations on myself? Lack of self confidence?

I don't know. I am losing the self I used to have. What is wrong with me?

In the Laboratory
I guess this is the first ever time that I am blogging while in lab. Yes at this wee hours of 2252 hrs. But my experimentation activities have seized since 1745 hrs. After days of preparing the powerpoint slides all day, the progress report just seems to be ever more gargantuan.

And mind me, this is only the progress report. Still got Oral Final Report (another ppt to prepare), Written Final Report (don't know if need to submit First Draft), and a Presentation Poster. And that's just FYP alone.

Nuff' said.

And now I am getting heart itchy over the path of direct MSc/PhD. I think I am really going crazy liao.

A New and Refreshing Year to Go?
The New Year has come. Yet I wish the New Year is yet to come. This wish is partly a fact if your roots can be traced back to the East Asian subcontinent. If you strictly follow the Lunar Calender (some people call it the Chinese Calender but the fact is, it is used not only by the Chinese. So we've got to be fair to eveyone here), we are still in the year of a pig.

Even if you insist that the Lunar Calender is not valid and the New Year has indeed arrived, it's a mere 16 days into the year and I still want to comment on it.

So many things happened lately that I pondered seriously about life and death. Mind you, it is not one, but quite a few. When you see all these incidents happening in the shows, you would think that they have been highly dramatized and sensationalized to create public appeal or to generate some form of sympathy from the audiences.

But when it happens to the people around you, you would realize: they are not at all dramatized. The truth is even more so and sometimes, so exposed and crude that even after a month you still find it hard to digest, accept and absorb it into your mind, and face it with courage and dignity. And all the while, you still have to tell yourself to be strong and to live without fear.

To live completely without fear would be hypocritical and being man we are bound to have emotional weaknesses.

But I guess, now it's all about living with courage and dignity. Accept it and face it with courage and dignity, and it is also the time to be extremely stubborn. Fear is bound to surface now and then, here and there. The overcome fear with even more courage and stubbornness is a challenge, but achieveable.

So let's just say, we all need to be strong, have to be strong, should be strong and must be strong.

Time for some serious work
You might want to label me as someone who has 'small gas' (小气), or to put it in proper English terms, someone who cannot see the big picture and is not forgiving (I do not know exactly how to put it in English actually), but I am still angry at someone who ditched me last minute on a trip planned a while ago.

Angry not because I got ditched, nor because she made her plan changes, but rather doing that without first discussing with me. And later hope that I could accommodate to the new arrangements. Although I have gotten used to getting ditched last minute, this time it has simply gone too far. Feel insulted, not respected at all. I think I will just say it out the next time we meet.

Till then, ppt is now my new best friend. I Love Slides!

Venting Anger
Dear readers of this blog,

If you do not understand the following part of the text, do not worry, and do not need to bother checking out what it translates into in English. I just want to vent some frustration and anger here, and I do not mean to insult anyone.

*****

A: Hi jia :-) hast du meine sms gestern nicht bekommen? Wäre es okay für dich wenn wir vom 20 ein paar tage nach kl gehen? lg

B: Hi ____, ich habe gar keine sms von dir bekommen. Ich verstehe auch nicht, was du meinst. Vom 20?

Tut mir so Leid.

**** One Day Later ****

A New Year!
The most impatient scientific parameter to me has to be the time. It really just ticks away as seconds without you even knowing - best when you are real busy.

Given recent spite of unexpected and undesired events, I think I really need to just slow down and recuperate. Probably zen. At least to gather back my long lost soul back into my brain. Also, to really appreciate all thats happening around me. Even bad times. Without the bad times and without the bad people, I would not be able to distinguish and identify the good and happy times, and true friends who really mean a lot to me.

But not at least until May 2008. Or maybe to be more specific, 11 April 2008. What kind of day is that? Check out my "Next Events" section and you'll know.

Yah, to many people, a Final Year Project is just a project. To me, I guess I would really need to reorganize my priority. I am not going to care about what other people say, but what is going to be of utmost importance now, I guess I do not have to explicitly state it here. It is obvious.

New Year Resolution? To keep my wavelength as short as possible. Probably in the order of nanometers. Really hope my experiments could yield results. Heard about an unfortunate news, but hey it's all about reality of the world, although I could simply comfort myself that I am trying my best. Or am I really trying my best?

No, I am not kiasu. There's a GREAT difference between trying hard and being kiasu. Being kiasu leads people into always trying to do things via the easy way out. Do I do that? To me I always end up doing the opposite and put myself into self-contradicting positions.

Maybe I am just so sucky in decision making skills. I don't know.

So to all the readers of this blog,

Have a Happy and Prosperous (being a Chinese, this word seems to be very important, don't you think?) New Year!
